Toyota Motor Sales - Raised Turntable Display
OBJECTIVES: To promote the 2007 Tundra, Toyota Motor Sales USA required a 20’ turntable display set at 36” tall for use at Latino-themed outdoor events throughout the U.S. The exhibit would rest on park grounds and other uneven surfaces. In addition, truck-packing space was an issue, as the entire exhibit -- including two Tundra trucks, a truss system, and several monitors -- needed to fit inside a single 54’ trailer.
SOLUTIONS: MDS prototyped a turntable riser system with built-in levelers individually adjusted to compensate for small holes or other irregularities in the ground or other surfaces. Sixteen risers were placed underneath the perimeter of a Standard Automobile Turntable. Two additional risers supported the center-hub and motor-drive assembly. A graphic wrapped surround, housing a 50” LCD television, was also constructed and used to stabilize a 16’ tall truss archway with two 50” monitors, a live video feed, and Tundra signage.
RESULTS: The display is currently on a nationwide tour of festivals and concerts and is regarded by the company as a highly successful promotion for the all-new Tundra.
